Wisdom of the Week #7

In the name of God who is Merciful towards all creation and Especially Merciful towards believers, God is the light of the heavens and the earth. (Al-Nur 24:35)
In chapter Al-Nur, the Quran tells us about God who is the light of the heavens and the earth. Then it talks about humans who exemplify His light and are never negligent of His remembrance.
Those men whom neither trade nor buying and selling distract from the remembrance of God (Al-Nur, 24:37).
These people live like others, they socialize and are busy with their day to day activities but this is not their delight. This is not the true essence of their life. On the outside, they have an ordinary life just like everyone else, but on the inside, they live another life beyond these transient trades, a world defined by a pleasant and intimate fellowship with the Beloved.
And those who cover the truth, their deeds are like a mirage in a desert (Al-Nur 24:39).
The Quran also talks about the people on the opposite side of the spectrum. These people are deprived of God's light and they put all their hopes in a mirage, a mirage which will never satisfy their thirst.
Or like manifold darkness in a deep sea (Al-Nur 24: 40).
In this verse, the Quran talks about people who are surrounded by so many layers of darkness that they can hardly see their own hands. Those who are not guided by His light, are either left thirsty or drown. They are either after a mirage or lost in such darkness that they aren't even aware of themselves and their behavior.
