Today, July 24, 2014: Arabic-Islamic School held a program for the families to honor the last day of the summer classes. Arabic school Principal, Hajjah Salam Farhat and Imam Elahi welcomed the families and the imam talked briefly about Ramadan to the students and their parents. Under the guidance of their teachers, the students recited various chapters of the Holy Quran, dua and poetry. Details of the next program will be posted soon! Nights of Power Services held at the Islamic House of Wisdom!
6 nights of prayer and reflection were held at the IHW lasting until the early hours of every morning. Various reciters participated in the dua that was projected on a screen for all to follow both in Arabic and English. In the early morning, breakfast (sohoor) was served for all in preparation for all to begin their daily fasting.
Islamic House of Wisdom held a family Birthday Celebration in Honor of Imam Hussein (as) . The program followed with dinner and prayer!
Step 1 of Foster Care Licensing: Orientation held at the IHW
May 31, 2014: Almost 20 people attended a Foster Care Orientation that was held at the Islamic House of Wisdom including Imam Mohammad Ali Elahi and wife, Hajji Jennifer Elahi. Photo Highlights: HERE
By attending the orientation, all participants completed Step one of the licensing process. If they choose to continue in the licensing procedures, next they will attend two more classes (12 hours), complete the application process and once all of the documents are processed- they will be licensed for short/long term and emergency care!

Universal Academy Class of 2014: Ceremony Held at the IHW
Wednesday, May 28, 2014: A graduation ceremony honoring Universal Academy's high school class of 2014 was held at the IHW. We congratulate all graduates and their families!
We would also like to congratulate Hajji Nawal Hamadeh who is founder of four local academies- Star International Academy in Dearborn Heights, Universal Learning Academy in Westland, Noor International Academy in Sterling Heights and Universal Academy in Detroit, where today she serves as Superintendent and CEO, overseeing operations and a combined academic community of 280 staff members and more than 2,300 students.

Ladies Luncheon at the Islamic House of Wisdom a Success!
Last Friday, May 16, 2014: Islamic House of Wisdom held a ladies Luncheon with Guest speaker: Dr. Mona Fakih and Co-Presenter, Hajji Dr. Vicki Ashker. In an open discussion for the ladies, Dr. Fakih focused on a range of women's health topics. At the end, she was available to advise and answer all health questions for the participants. Hajja Vicki thanked everyone for attending and added some brief comments on the activities, primarily for the ladies that the IHW offers. Following the program, there was a complementary lunch available to all. Birthday of Imam Ali (as) Celebrated at the IHW
Tuesday, May 13, 2014: This Islamic House of Wisdom held a family celebration honoring the birth of Imam Ali (as). The evening program included a presentation from Imam Mohammad Ali Elahi, Q&A with the children, followed with dinner and a raffle. Some of the raffle winners are highlighted in the pictures. Mother's Day Honored in the Sunday Breakfast & Service at the Islamic House of Wisdom.
IHW celebrated Mother's Day, honoring all women, young ladies and girls of the gathering. Following the breakfast and program, roses were given to all ladies who were present.
Birthday Celebration of Sayedah Fatimah (as)
On April 18, 2014- the Islamic House of Wisdom held an evening program for ladies featuring nasheed & recitation by Hajji Hanan & Sr. Kawthar. Four students of the started the evening with recitation of the holy Quran. Following, Sr. Teeba Sadoun delivered a short message & poetry. Imam Elahi stopped by to welcome everyone to the Islamic House of Wisdom and shared some reflections on the life of Sayedah Fatimah (as). Before the recitations of respected guests, Hajji Hanan & Sr. Kawthar- everyone enjoyed in a catered dinner from Dearborn Manor. At the conclusion of the program- prizes were awarded to raffle winners of the evening.

April 12, 2014- Islamic House of Wisdom celebrated its Semi-Annual fundraising dinner Saturday successfully, attracting a large number of supporters and a group of interfaith leaders.

The crowd included Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano, State Representative David Knezek, Islamic Center of American Chairman hajj Khalil Kadouh and a group of ICA board members and some members of the Bint Jebail Cultural Center Board.
IHW Board of Trustee chairman, David Abdullah and IHW spiritual leader, Imam Mohammad Elahi welcomed guests and presented a report on IHW's educational, spiritual, social and family services, including the complete funeral services that IHW is currently offering.
IHW is not a place for prayer only, it's a community center to meet the personal, family and even financial needs of the poor to the best of its capacity.
During the dinner, IHW honored four community members for their achievements and their service to the community, including hajj Chaffic Moussa, hajj Ahmad and hajja Rehab Amer and hajj Chuck Bazzi.
Hajj Moussa has been a long-time member of the Islamic Center of America and has been volunteering in the community for more than 50 years.
The Amers led an arduous struggle for justice to convince the Michigan government to enact new laws to protect innocent children.
Hajj Chuck Bazzi was an active member of Islamic House of Wisdom during his membership in the Board of Trustees.
The awardees expressed appreciation to IHW's Imam and board, and Moussa captured the moment with his remarks to the audience:
"It gives me a distinct honor to receive this award tonight which I humbly and gratefully accept on behalf of all hard working individuals in our community, and we are blessed to have many of them.
I would like to thank the board of directors and Imam Elahi, whom I've had the pleasure of working with throughout the years. Under his leadership, this great institution has been able to grow and reach new heights.
I leave you with this: When you were born you cried and the world around you rejoiced. Live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you will rejoice. Keep up the good work ".

Sunday, March 23, 2014- Some members of the Muslim community gathered in honor of Nowruz which marks the first day of spring (and beginning of the year in the Persian calendar). Together they shared in dinner, words of reflection and presentations from students of the weekend Farsi School.

Wednesday, March 19, 2014- Sayedah Rabab Sadr Charafeddine, the head of the Sadr Foundation in Lebanon, with Sayed Hamid Al-Sadr, the son of Imam Mosa Sadr and a delegation of the foundation were honored at the Islamic House of Wisdom.
Imam Elahi welcomed the guests and praised the services of Imam Mosa and his leadership in the 20th century in Lebanon and the Middle East. He admired Imam Mosa's wisdom, knowledge, faith, determination, moral values and actions. Imam Elahi spoke of the local community, especially the youth and their need for characteristics of Imam Mosa. Imam called for more unity and cooperation in the community for the sake of protection and prosperity of the community and their support for good causes whether local, in the Middle East or Africa.
At the end of the dinner Sayedah Rabab thanked IHW and attendees of the evening gathering. She talked about the foundation's latest communications on the destiny of Imam Mosa Al-Sadr, 35 years after his disappearance in Libya.
Hajj Marwan Houry, Hajja Nawal Hamade and Br. Hasan Bazzi also shared some welcoming words during the dinner.

Last Sunday, March 16, 2014- Imam Elahi reflected on the history of his friendship with the marhoom and admired his dedication, determination, services and his sacrifices for his faith, community
and country. Imam called late hajj Chuck a man of dignity, wisdom, courage, generosity, and honesty.
He admired the educational role of the marhoom in guiding the English speaking audience- in particular the youth. Doing so for decades before social networking and online communications such as Facebook and Youtube at a time when little English material about Islam was available.
Imam Elahi also admired marhoom hajj Khalil for his great contributions in the establishment of Islamic Center and Islamic House of Wisdom.
Other speakers who made great comments about hajj Khalil included: Hajja Najah Bazzi, hajj Adnan Cherri (the son of late, Imam Cherri) Hajj Ali Faiz, Imam Abdollah Amin, Eid Alawan, Rev. Lawrence, Raad Alawan,hajj Hamza Makki, shaikh Mohammad Dabogh, Shaikh Faisal Al-Kazemi and some other members of the congregation.
Hajja Kamili Alawan, hajj Haidar, hajj Eid, hajj Chuck Bazzi and other Alawan family members thanked IHW for its invitation and the service.
Saturday, March 8th-
Weekend Islamic-Arabic School Students had an opportunity to reflect on the life and lessons of Sayeda Zainab (as). As a part of their weekend activity, they practiced and performed the afternoon prayers in groups of classes in the masjid. Details of the upcoming Summer Islamic-Arabic School program will be posted soon!
Friday, March 7th- A special program and dinner celebration was held for the ladies in commemoration of the birth of Sayedah Zainab (as).
A young sister, Ghadir Daheni of the weekend Islamic-Arabic School began the evening with recitation from the Holy Quran. Sister Teeba Sadoun continued with words in English and recitation of poetry while Hajji Um Ramzi followed with a presentation in Arabic.
Guest Reciter's Hajji Hanan and Sister Kawther were the main reciters of the evening that touched and united the hearts of everyone! Zainab Hussein was the master of ceremonies for the evening! The event was greatly enjoyed and appreciated by all- details of the next sister's event will be posted soon!
Sunday Breakfast Celebration!
Last Sunday, Jan. 19th- Continuing the weekend celebration, Imam Elahi delivered a presentation on the life and legacy of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to the participants of the Sunday Service.
Every Sunday morning at the IHW,
members gather at 11:00am to enjoy in a breakfast together, followed with a themed presentation of the week.
Later in the afternoon last Sunday, members of the Iranian community held a beautiful family celebration and exciting program for the kids to honor the birth of Prophet Muhammad ( pbuh).
